Usually in January I’m not thinking about summer and camping. Dreaming? Maybe. Planning? Not a chance. I still have to plan spring break, get things together for the Calgary RV Show in a couple weeks (Jan 26-29!) and figure out what’s for dinner tonight. So when I found out that Parks Canada campsite reservations start this month (for the whole year!), it made me think about all the people, like me, who won’t think of making reservations until a much, much later date. Remember, this is only National Park reservations. There is lots of time left to plan and...Read More

Usually when I think of waterfalls, I think of exotic locales. Undeniably, Canada has spectacular natural beauty. We have mountains, rivers, lakes and trails to explore for a lifetime. Waterfalls however…I initially thought I may come up with a list of ten or so across the country that are noteworthy. Inspired by a winter trip to Helmcken Falls and being awed by the spectacular ice bowl that forms and the gorgeous frozen landscape, I looked into it further and these twenty to check out below (in British Columbia and Alberta alone!) just scratch the surface of waterfalls you can...Read More
Pine Lake Leisure Campground is an easy, scenic 20 minute drive southeast of Red Deer, Alberta located on 77 acres at the northern tip of Pine Lake. Our family of 4 has spent the last two summers here at a seasonal RV site. Our two main “wants” in deciding on a lot were a seasonal, contract RV lot (not a purchased lot as some other parks are structured) and to be at a lake. After checking out several lakes within a 2 hour drive from Calgary, we decided on Pine Lake Leisure Campground. Two years ago we moved to...Read More
Like many of my fellow avid RV enthusiasts, I’m googling, dreaming and planning how to one day hit the road, explore North America and live the fulltime RV lifestyle. As a road trip addict who loves researching topics of interest, I recently came across two great articles detailing how to get started on that. The first article, “10 Things I Wish I’d Known Before Fulltime RVing” by Nina Fussing at www.wheelingit.us, details out (you guessed it!) 10 really useful items to consider that she’s learned along the way and is kindly passing along to us. Nina offers down-to-earth advice...Read More
One of the things I loved most about living in the Lower Mainland was the proximity to so many great day trips, places to visit and great camping spots. One of my absolute favourite places for family camping is Sunnyside Campground, located approximately 20 minutes from downtown Chilliwack, BC, or about a 1.5 hour drive from Vancouver. We spent 3 years here at a seasonal site and as a family with young kids, Sunnyside is a great location that is close to so many fun things to see and do – we were never bored. This is a large...Read More
